British Dyslexia Conference 2024
In my ongoing PhD practice-based study, I delve into the impact of dyslexia on my visual art practice. Drawing upon existing research, I explore how dyslexic characteristics such as visual-spatial awareness, pattern recognition, narrative reasoning, and critical thinking shape my artistic process. I inquire into the coping mechanisms I employ to navigate challenges posed by dyslexia and investigate how these strategies inform and enrich my approach to art-making. Through an anonymous survey, I validate my observations by uncovering shared experiences among fellow artists. The culmination of my research manifests in an exhibition of photography, painting, and digital installations. This poster is the initial survey results.
