Surface Deep

‘Surface Deep’ perfected the art of floating photographs on the surface of Lake Wendouree for the Ballarat International Foto Biennale, 2017. This installation investigated water ecology and our relationship to the environment. On close inspection, what seem like beautiful posies of flowers, are actually rubbish semi submerged in our waterways. Algae turn the water brilliant emerald or the water appears inky black and bottomless. The circular photos hover just above the water like lilies, tethered to the murky lake bed with wire roots, the photos clustered together, near the shore.
